Welcome to Indigo Class September 2024 - July 2025
June 2025
24.06.25 Today, we had a visit from local PCSOs about keeping yourself safe online. They informed us about who might hurt us online and how to spot someone that might not be who they say they are. Considering lots of us play games online, this was really informative and helpful. |
12.06.25 Today we started with an amazing cooked breakfast. From the moment we woke up, it was raining really hard but it didn't stop us from getting on our waterproofs and heading out. We got on to two minibuses and journeyed to Hound Tor. We were given safety helmets and then we walked up to the big rocks to do 'weaseling'. What a fantastic time we had, not even the rain or our soaking wet clothes could curb our excitement. We spent the day climbing up, around and through rocks and really impressed the three instructors. When we returned to the Centre we could choose to play inside or out. Our meal was a yummy roast and apple crumble, followed by a quiz. We are looking forward to our last morning at the Dartmoor Centre! |
11.06.25 We had a good journey to the Dartmoor Centre. When we arrived we met Tom and Kieran who told us some of the Centre rules. We were really excited about sorting out our dormitories and managed to negotiate who was having which bunk bed! After our lunch, we had a walk across the Moors where Kieran and Tom taught us facts about Dartmoor (we learnt about the history of the moors, wildlife and plants). It was a long walk but after a short break we were straight up to the woodland to do shelter building. We demonstrated great teamwork and initiative. After a short time of playing games and socialising we ate a lovely dinner cooked by Susan. We had a delicious meal of pasta, salad and warm bread all finished off by sticky toffee pudding. In the evening we went back outside to play team games and had a great time in the fresh air until 8.30 pm. A mug of hot chocolate and a flapjack snack made us really sleepy and we were all asleep by 9.00pm (or was it 11.30 pm?) Really looking forward to our next day! From all the Indigo Class team. |

Indigo and Violet took advantage of the lovely sunny weather to enjoy an afternoon of rounders and running races. The competitive spirit was in full swing! |
11.03.25 - Science Week
Today, we created fizz balloons! Using everyday ingredients, we made balloons inflate without us blowing them up. We found this amazing! We discussed the chemical reaction between the vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, that caused the carbon dioxide to inflate our balloons. |

10.03.25 - Science Week
Today in Indigo Class, we celebrated British Science Week by creating a Walking Rainbow. This was fabulous fun, and it was very exciting to see if they had worked when we came in this morning! We have discussed how they are all different results and thought about what variables we could control. |
||
We heard a range of stories from different adults within the school and we practised our performance skills by turning well-loved children's books into raps! |
06.03.25 - World Book Day Indigo Class in their comfy clothes and pyjamas, ready to read it your way! |
February 2025
28.02.25
On Friday we had a storytelling session with Sharon. We focussed on a story about Anansi the spider. Anansi was given a challenge to take a piece of corn and then get a whole tribe of people to cross the River Niger. Anansi is a cunning character and he manages to trick some tribe leaders and he succeeds in getting people to cross the River Niger. We really enjoyed acting out the story and showing our drama to the rest of the class. |

06.02.25
Today, after 2 weeks of practise, we performed dance routines to Yr6. They all contained the same basic movement however how they were performed, was up to the children. They were fabulous performances. |
04.02.25 Today, we used all our newly learnt coding skills to create a simulation football game. We had to check the algorithms in the code were correct, in order for the players to move. We showed fantastic teamwork in aiding our peers when we found this tricky, and explained how to correct code in a mature, informative way. |

December 2024
05.12.24 Elfie has been causing chaos ever since he arrived on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he took our science learning a little too seriously, on Thursday he welcomed back Mrs Templar with a confetti party, and on Friday, he got a little too excited throwing baubles around! What will he get up to next?! |
